Marginal Consent
Marginal Consent (2012-ongoing) is a net-based work that undercovers/overlaps the photographic iconography of hysteria patients amid contemporary mainstream and amateur pornography, suggesting a more than “visually similar” relationship between them. Videos and images of me "inhabiting" hysteria have been posted on porn tube sites along side digital collages merging historical iconography from the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris with pornographic images that duplicate the poses.
Comments left by users are collected, as are my exchanges with site monitors who tend to remove the media for a variety of reasons My personal favourite reason for being taken down: “for not having sexual content.”.
